NEW!!! Trip to Cuba
" If you love maritime stories, of old people and of marlin fisherman, if that night you approached
a girl in front of a mojito, if as a student you demanded more justice marching behind the image of Che or if you
danced at the Salsa beat, then in one way or another you have been to Cuba. Because the island has this particularity:
is a poor country, but is one of the biggest exporter of this good, Emotions, that is not part of the economic
statistics. Cuba has talked to us, with the years, made us dream and discuss, at times even scared us, it has moved
us in defense of human rights, it has surprised us with its resistance; in a few words it never left us indifferent………."
From "Meridiani" Federico Bini

NEW!!! Fortress in Ghana

Cuba is covered by Natural Parks, Biosphere Reserves and sites that are part of the UNESCO World
Heritage. Among these ones the most famous are the Biosphere Reserve of the Guanahacabibes Peninsula, the Zapata
Peninsula and the Vinales Valley.
The Cuban fauna is extraordinary rich, in terms of abundance and variety. For this particular characteristic this
territory is also known as the "paradise of the naturalists".
Cuba can be define as a naturalistic paradise; the warmth and cordiality of the Cuban culture seams to have spread
also to their local fauna, animals can be easily approached and photographed.
Hoping that in the near future American tourists also will be able to enjoy the
flavor of the one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean

The European colonialism between the 1400 and 1800 has created another incident in the history, the
one defined as the slave trade from Africa to America.
Numerous forts, built in the Gold Coast between Ghana and Benin by English, Danish, Portuguese, Spanish and Dutch,
were the getaway to the new world for almost 12 million of slaves.
Crammed in cells and chained then their name changed for a Christian one, they would wait for the galleon that
would take them over the ocean, losing this way their origins, identity, hopes and their motherland.
Today a new tourism is taking form: several Afro-Americans follow the opposite route
from America to Africa, looking in those forts their origins by the prisons camps, undergrounds, chains and the
records that still show the names of the slaves sold like goods.

The Fish Market in CATANIA

Now that you've seen the charm of the Romans strolling
in the streets of their capital, lets move down the peninsula to the South, where we can discover the warmth of
the Sicilian Sun. The photos you will see have been shot at the fish market in Catania, a place where the surprire
raised by the sight of fish difficult to imagine mingles with the smiles and geniality of the Sicilian people producing
a truely divine cocktail for the senses. Let me tell you a little anectode which beautifully conveys the atmosphere
of this special place...
It was two o'clock in the afternoon under the
glare of the scoarching August sun. I was in the store taking pictures and indulging in the peculiar air of the
place that gave me the idea of a reunion of family and friend's more than that of a regular day's work at the market.
As the working day drew to a lazy end, one of the fishmongers approached me with a plastic bag full of little squid.
He and his family had caught them the very same morning and they where so fresh they still smelled like the sea.
He told me, 'Why don't you take these, I didn't sell them and you could cook yourself quite a nice dinner with
them tonight!'
Incredulous, I replied, 'But I dont have any money to pay you with, and besides I'm staying at a hotel. I really
wouldn't know where to cook them.'
'It's a gift,' he said, 'you can go get them cooked for you at Tonino's, my Uncle's restaurant near the castle,
tell him that Luigi sends you.'
At this point, my new friend Luigi gave me the bag of fish, and he left before I could invent another polite excuse
to refuse his generous offer. And so, I ended up setting out for Tonino's afterall. After having spent at least
half an hour at the door of the restaurant winnining over my shyness, I entered with the dripping bag of fish and
asked Tonino for the favor. He satisfied my request with a great uproar of goviality and with the best squid dinner
I had ever had.
This is Sicily. This is Catania... and her fish market.

Rome is a place where you have to tie your laces tight
before you go for a walk, because once you set out you won't have too much time to be looking at your feet. In
your trip to Rome you will discover a place where the austerity of the Classic, Rennaissance and Medieval monuments
mingles with the sponteneity of it's modern citizens. You'll get the chance to have lunch at a small table outdoors
in the mild weather at a typical restaurant in the city center. You will be able to listen to an improvised concert
in a Rennaissance piazza, and to admire the works of painters that portray with their art an even greater work
of art... Rome!!!
